Use case

Choose where to live: compare neighborhoods first

You're shortlisting neighborhoods before viewings. Score them on walkable streets, transit and the places you use, ask your country's own questions about rent and who lives there, and see what's within a 15-minute walk of a flat.

Within a 10-minute walk: what each hex can reach on foot. Town centers show up as connected bright stretches.

The job, step by step

  1. Score walkable, well-connected neighborhoods

    Score

Weigh pedestrian streets, transit stops and the places you use, such as cafés, grocery stores or gyms. Every hex is scored 0–100, and Find Standouts outlines the top groups of hexes and names them by neighborhood.

  2. Ask your country's own questions

    Question Library

The library adds questions only some censuses can answer: where rent is lower and transit dense in Germany, where students find cheap rent in the United Kingdom, how income compares with rent in the United States.

  3. Check the food and shops

    Variety

See how mixed the restaurants are in each hex, or how evenly a set of kinds of place is spread.

  4. Walk it from the flat

    Territory · catchment

Drop a pin on the address and draw a 15-minute walking catchment. Its dashboard lists the places, residents and buildings inside.

  5. Send the shortlist

Copy link reopens the same city, factors and weights for a partner or flatmate, who can change them and watch the map move.

Real answers, with sources

Questions like these, already answered for real cities. Each answer names its source and census year, says what it cannot show, and opens on the live map.

From neighborhood to front door

The Score finds the neighborhoods; a walking catchment checks one flat. Draw it from the address and the dashboard shows what is really within reach on foot: how many places, of which kinds, and how built up the streets are.

The dashboard for one walking catchment: its size, the places inside and what kind of buildings they are.

What this can't tell you

  • No listings, asking prices or crime data.
  • Rent and income appear only where the country's census publishes them, for one census year.
  • Each figure is an estimate for its hex, not for a single building.

Frequently asked questions

Can MapBees tell me whether a neighborhood is safe?

No. There is no crime data in MapBees.

Does it show rents?

Where the census publishes them: rent per square meter in Germany, for example, and rent against income in the United States. Not every country's census does.

Can I compare two neighborhoods side by side?

Yes. Draw both as areas in Territory and read their dashboards side by side, or see where each sits on the same Score map.

Is it free to use?

The map app runs in your browser on the Free Tier.
